St. Giles fair

Last night Kent and I went to check out the St. Giles Fair here in Oxford. Apparently it's a long standing tradition. Since the nineteenth century, St Giles' Fair has been held on the Monday and Tuesday following the first Sunday after St Giles' Day (1 September). They close down one of the areas of town where two main streets come together and fill it with carnival rides, game booths with huge stuffed animals, and of course stinky food booths of all kinds. This caused me a big headache when riding my bike to work yesterday, but made for a fun evening.

We gave the fair a lap up and back...Kent gave some money to the darts game, and we saw a lot of um....different...types of people. There were some really crazy looking rides, but I was only brave enough to ride the ferris wheel. It was actually really high - kind of scared for our safety, but we had a great view of the spires of Oxford.

After our tour of the fair we headed over to one of our favorite pubs, The Turf, to meet up with about half of the MBA class. We hadn't seen a lot of the people there the whole summer, as many were doing their summer projects in so many different countries. It was a really fun night to catch up with everyone during this last week of the MBA.

We're starting to feel a little sad that it's coming to an end...we've made such great friends this year! Kent's in his last week of class, and the graduation ceremony is on Saturday.....
