Christmas Vacation Part Two was spent relaxing in Raleigh with Jen, Matt & Ben for most of the week. So nice to be able to chill out, make some nice meals, go for a jog, swim or do yoga -- and mostly just play with Ben. He's such a good natured little boy - always smiling and ready to play or eat.
Mom and Dad came back up to Raleigh for Christmas weekend and it was a nice low-key weekend - another present-opening session on Christmas morning, a turkey dinner with all the fixins (some say "the best turkey we've ever had"), and Kent's awesome fudge pecan pie. Each meal (sometimes including breakfast) was topped off with a buckeye or truffle - thanks a lot Jenny. ;)
What we weren't expecting was the 6+ inches of snow we woke up to the day after Christmas. We decided to stay home and build a giant snowman. The whole neighborhood was talking about it. :-)
Mom and Dad were able to make it home on Monday when the roads cleared. Kent and I delayed our day trip to Charlotte until Tuesday - we headed down to scope out the city and see if we may like living there. Also had the chance to meet up with Kristina and her mom for lunch (at a brewery, so Kent was happy). Great to catch up after so many years!
That Tuesday also happened to be Matt's birthday, so Kent and I did out Aunt & Uncle's duty and volunteered to babysit so they could go out for a night on the town. We had our first experience with "night terrors" but eventually Ben went peacefully to sleep.
Thanks for hosting us, Jen & Matt. Great to see all the family - and we're looking forward to seeing you more often in 2011!!
The pics tell the story.....
