Last weekend Kent and his team of 5 went to London to represent Oxford in the European "bracket" of the Venture Capital Investment Competition. About a month ago, his team won at the Oxford event. They went in to London Business School last Thurs-Sat and read through 4 real business plans, worked with the entrepreneurs and real venture capital investors (the judges) to come up with a recommended "deal" for one of the up and coming businesses. Kent can explain it much better than that, but that's the general idea.
Well, it turns out that Kent and his team (of non-Europeans) beat out all of the other top MBA programmes in Europe to take the win! Now, they get to travel to University of North Carolina in April to represent Europe (and Oxford for the first time ever) in the international finals. They worked very hard, and I'm really proud of Kent! He said he's learning so much from these extra activities like this - really a good supplement to the classes. Here's a pic of his team after the announcement of the winner:
On Saturday, I hopped on the train and met Kent in London for a day in the city. We hit the B
orough Market - one of the largest fresh/farmers markets in London. I literally could have spent ALL day there. But Kent restrained me to a quick tour and a few samples, and we only walked away with some gourmet olives and rare Tex-Mex supplies (corn tortillas and tomatillo sauce). Here are a few pics from the market....it was huge with tons of fresh, gorgeous, unique foods.

We stopped for a late lunch at a place called the "Texas Embassy Cantina." It was pretty decent Tex-Mex food - really the only place we have found anything close in England. The Eastern European accented waitress was super nice and even let us take home extra salsa. :) We took a walk to to see the real Texas Embassy building (when they were a real country for a
few years) and met one of Kent's friends for tea.
