Last Friday, we went to the last "end-of-term" party for the MBAs. Number three of three....it was kind of a sad night. We've made such great friends this year, it's sad to think that everyone if going to scatter across the globe in a few months. Many are already branching out this summer for various internships. Anyway, I digress....
This party was called "The Sylvesters" for some reason...which I guess means end of year awards for the MBA class. Things like "Biggest Pub Rat", "Fell Asleep in Class the most", "Teachers Pet", etc, etc. There were a lot of funny awards, and the organizers did a great job to make it a really fun evening. One of the highlights were performances from the three groups of guys (who hung out together the whole year) going for "Best New Boy Band." It was between the Japanese crew (performed Guns n Roses Sweet Child of mine), the Middle Eastern Crew (re-wrote lyrics to "Backstreet's Back") and the rowers (a little skit and a Capella performance of "Afternoon Delight" a la Anchorman). The Japanese guys really were into it with costumes and a lot of energy - and they won with the loudest applause. :-) Kent did take home the award for "most patriotic", for the country of Texas of course. haha
As you'll see in some pics, we were encouraged to dress in the formal dress of your country....there were saris, African dress, Middle Eastern, the surfer guy from California wearing board shorts with his tux jacket, and of course Kent's special bow tie.
The event was at The Rhodes House, the closest to an "Oxford college" exclusively for the Rhodes Scholars. We had a cocktail reception in the manicured garden before moving inside to the library and main hall for the awards ceremony. Really classy place to celebrate the end of the last terms for the MBA s (well, they were done with classes, but all have been swamped with exams and projects this past week).
