Oxford University Graduation

You may think you've already read a blog about Kent's graduation....but don't be fooled, this is not a repeat! Kent worked so hard last year that he had two ceremonies at Oxford's Sheldonian Theatre to celebrate. :-) The second ceremony we attended on November 7th was his official Oxford University graduation, where he was accepted into the degree programme for MBA. Kent's parents came over for the occasion, and we had a great visit! Here are a few photos from the graduation day:

At the top of Green Templeton College's Radcliffe Observatory.

Inside the Observatory, where the college hosted a luncheon for it's 11 graduates attending the afternoon ceremony. In Kent's college, there were two other MBAs who had scheduled their graduation for this day. Some students across Oxford will finish their degree and move on, and come back years later to go through the graduation ceremony! Above, you see Kent receiving his actual degree paper.

Inside the Sheldonian Theatre. This ceremony included students from many colleges across Oxford, with students from all levels of degree - from undergrad to Phd - and all disciplines - from literature to sciences to MBAs.

The ceremony was full of traditions hundreds of years old, most noticeably that it was all in Latin! Luckily the program had a translation for us. There was a lot of tipping of hats and bowing (above you see Kent bowing to the proctors).

Kent was extremely proud of wearing his fancy new academic robe - as you can see here at our post-ceremony celebration at the Turf Tavern (with fellow MBA and pub-partner-in-crime Graham). It was very cool to see the traditions that the University has kept alive for so many years. A great visit with Kent's parents, and we're all so proud of Kent's Oxford achievement!
